My family lived in Ecuador for seven years. We’ve dealt with the worst kinds of red-tape, searched out or ended up making hard-to-find ingredients ourselves, imported equipment for making chocolate confections, learned the import-export business, and had a lot of adventures along the way. We are sure to have many more while we’re here.
I try to update the blog weekly if not more frequently, but it’s challenging with two kids, a local business and one in the US, and a number of other things left to your imagination. But there’s plenty of material here for that. In a previous lifetime, I’ve done foreign aid work in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Nicaragua, real estate work in the US, went culinary school, and worked in restaurants, catering, and personal chefing in the US.
We are now back in the US after our 7 year stint. For a number of reasons we decided to return to the US. It has been a bit more tame here, but still an adventure being back. After coming back for what I thought was my “dream” job, I was let go due to a lack of proper planning and funding-and am now freelancing in the chocolate industry.
